Rembering Mike

Hard to believe that it has been 2 1/2 years since Mike "Toad" Roach passed away. He still makes Bluenosers proud. Mike was a Nova Scotian treasure. Here are some of his famous builds and his obituary. We miss you Toad and think of you often on the road!

ROACH, Raymond Michael "Toad" - 49, Dartmouth. It is with great sadness and broken hearts the family announces the passing of Toad on Monday, January 22, 2007. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Milton and Rita (Wilkes) Roach. Mike turned his passion for motorcycles into a business and founded Toad's Cycle Works in 1979. In addition to running the business "doin' it right", he built dozens of world class custom bikes including the first ever side by side double engine Harley. More than just a local legend, Mike was recognized world wide for his achievements. The motorcycling world is a poorer place for his passing - he was a biker's biker. He is survived by his loving wife, Marlene; children, Collin (Leora), Derek, Wanda (Scott) Wilson, all of Dartmouth; sisters, Nancy (Mark) Tomney, Calgary; Brenda Roach, Halifax; grandchildren, Kaelyn Leadley, Nadalie Roach, Jace Wilson. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. Visitation for family and friends will take place from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, memorial service 2 p.m. Friday, both in New Covenant Ministries, 110 Thorne Ave., Burnside, Pastor Gary Hooper officiating. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Mike's memory to any children's charity would be appreciated.

"Be of good cheer, Toad is ridin' with the angels."
